Surviving ‘tactical interrogation’ or a ‘hostile interview’ with the secret police of an authoritarian regime is tough. A lot of people claim “torture doesn’t work”. But if it didn’t at least to a degree it would not be the devil’s temptation that it is.

An interview on Belarus state television with a journalist held after his plane was forced to land in Minsk has been condemned and described as “disturbing”.
I think the most tolerant people of those who have ‘broken’ are those who had almost broken themselves; who know that is was not by their strength alone but something inexplicable that they survived.
